What is Wellness Coaching? (FAQ)

What is wellness coaching?
Wellness coaching is a supportive, thought-provoking process where you work with a trained coach to clarify your goals and build habits that support your health, wellbeing, and life satisfaction. It’s not therapy, and it’s not medical advice—it’s a collaborative space where you are the expert on your life. The primary skill I practice in our coaching is a form of dialogue used to support behaviour change called “Motivational Interviewing.”

What kinds of things can we work on?
We can focus on a wide range of areas that affect your wellbeing: stress management, creating a more supportive routine, improving energy and sleep, mindful eating, building healthy habits, navigating life transitions, reconnecting with creativity, and finding a greater sense of balance in your daily life.

How is this different from therapy?
Coaching focuses on where you are now and where you want to go. It’s action-oriented and strengths-based. Therapy is more focused on healing past trauma and managing mental health conditions. Coaching is not a substitute for therapy, but it can be a great complement.

Do I need to have a big problem to benefit from coaching?
Not at all. Many people come to coaching simply because they want more clarity, motivation, or support around creating positive change in their lives.

How long do I need to work with a coach?
That depends on your goals. Some people benefit from a few sessions to work on a specific habit or life area. Others work with a coach for several months to support deeper lifestyle changes. My packages are flexible to meet your needs.

Are sessions confidential?
Yes. As a coach trained in the NBHWC standards, I adhere to strict confidentiality and ethical guidelines. This is a safe space to explore what matters to you.
