Runaway Horse

I'm Mariana Tirsa, a singer-songwriter creating music as Runaway Horse. I blend poetic lyrics with soulful melodies to craft songs that tell stories of love, loss, and spiritual awakening. Music has always been a transformative force in my life, and through it, I aim to create space for connection, healing, and truth.

Released in 2025, Mujer (Woman) is my first bilingual album, a heartfelt tribute to my mother, Alicia Cahue, and to the creative force of women who have shaped our world. Blending English, Spanish, and a touch of French, these songs weave together my dual-language upbringing, my love of poetry, and my search for artistic voice. At its heart, the album honors my mother’s life—a tapestry of devotion to faith, beauty, and words. Pieces like Mi Voz draw directly from her journals and published poem, while Starlight Love reflects the grace of her final moments.

At the same time, Mujer reaches beyond my personal story into themes of ancestry, spirituality, and the divine feminine. The song Roses and Roses is a meditation on this archetype, invoking the rose as a timeless symbol of beauty, love, mystery, and resilience. It carries the influence of Sufi mysticism and the contemplative prayer tradition of the rosary, while honoring the wisdom passed through generations of women. This album is both an offering and an invitation—for those who seek to honor their loved ones through art, to reconnect with their roots, and to discover the power of giving voice to their own creativity.

MUJER (Woman)

Mujer is a bilingual tribute to my mother and to the divine feminine, weaving poetry, ancestry, and the timeless archetype of the rose into song.

Mi Voz was written from the words taken out of my mother’s journals.

The Man No One Sees

(single)

“The Man No One Sees” is a tender folk ballad in the tradition of The Decemberists, honoring the quiet collaborators and unseen companions who shape the music from behind the scenes. At once personal and universal, the song reflects on the men whose strength comes not from visibility but from silence, presence, and steady peace—those who remain out of the spotlight yet are essential to the harmony of both art and life.

Falling

(single)

Falling is the haunting single from Runaway Horse, written over five years ago, yet prophetically relevant today. Recorded in El Paso, TX, the song reflects on the fragility of democracy and the unsettling sense of ground slipping beneath us and dreams lost. With its desert-soaked Alt Country sound, reminiscent of Calexico and Neko Case, Falling weaves stark imagery and plaintive vocals into a cinematic meditation on cultural and creative loss, and the uneasy beauty still found in uncertain times.
