BETWEEN YOUR WORK AND THE WORLD (Online Workshop)
at The Inward and Outward School of Creativity
Turn the vulnerable space between finishing a project and sharing it into a pathway of strength. In this 6-week journey, you’ll learn to move through fear of visibility, self-doubt, and anxiety with embodied tools and supportive practices.
We’ll work with a blend of somatic nervous system practices, mindfulness meditation, and archetype reflections to support you in moving through fears of visibility. You’ll learn concrete skills for calming anxiety, grounding your body before and after sharing, and expanding your tolerance for being seen. Together we’ll design personalized daily routines that anchor you in steadiness and help you return to safety when self-doubt arises. Each session includes opportunities to practice sharing in ways that strengthen confidence, so that by the end you’ll have both the inner tools and the outer support to cross the threshold from private creation to public expression with greater ease.

Weekly Guideposts
Each session begins and ends with practices that build skills in presence and nervous system regulation, including the Loop of Awareness, Fear Melters, and Rapid Rest. The first hour focuses on somatic and mindfulness exercises. The second hour centers on archetype reflection, drawing from Kim Krans’s The Wild Unknown Archetypes, and practicing sharing within breakout groups.

“Gently invoking fear/anxiety as an invitation to move through it, was a meaningful offering from Mari- who candidly admitted that, as a performer and artist herself, she has struggled with this. And so, it is evident that it’s an offering from the heart; she was guiding us from a place of lived experience and care. I love her grounding, earthy, sage presence! I felt held in the container by the energy she emitted. I enjoyed the choice of which activity to do; I really got into telling a creative, spontaneous story about an everyday object! I confess that I ultimately saw it as a fun challenge to get my partner to laugh, though she was supposed to maintain a “neutral” expression (and I succeeded- we both giggled!). I didn’t really have fear or anxiety around the exercise, but was instead fascinated that I felt enlivened and happy (which could also have a lot to do with the fact that I had just presented, and so my nervous system was coming down from anxiety, and I was also reaping the soothing & connective aspects of the shared ritual I had invited us all to do). I love telling stories, and have since childhood...Regardless, it’s intriguing to note our personal, physiological responses to risk/the unknown and having to be “on,” and also to take the role as listener, observing the experiences of our partner and self. I believe that Mari has a valuable offering here, especially for those who tend to have nerves around performing in any capacity!”
